Finally, with the acquisition of R $ 5.86 billion,
Oi and Brasil Telecom form a new telecommunications operator. One of the largest in
Brazil and able to operate nationally.
What does this negotiation mean to the market?
For Franciso Molnar, senior analyst at Frost & Sullivan,
the change is profound. “It is a leading operator in fixed telephony and broadband.
Betting on convergence, it will bother Telefónica and Telmex in the medium
term ”.
When highlighting the greater capillarity of the network, “now Embratel has
a competitor with a national backbone”, Molnar points out that the Brazilian market will
see major changes in the mobile, fixed and broadband segments.
“Oi / BrT can be very annoying. It will force Telefônica to
take a different position at Vivo, while putting pressure on Net, Embratel and
the other TelMex companies to increase synergy to guarantee the
broadband market ”, he guarantees.

Eduardo Tude, president of Teleco, sees an immediate impact on cellular telephony. For the specialist, even with the consolidation and the consequent reduction of a competitor, this movement represents greater competition.
"With the union, Brazil has one more operator that operates nationally,
which makes the competition more intense", he highlights.
